Kalidas

This is my flagship project exploring the works of author and poet Kalidas. Kalidas's work relied on exploring Indian mythology while focusing more on the nuances and descriptive nature rather than just the Story. His work often explored topics that are now considered taboo such as sex with reference to Indian gods.

My work focuses on exploring the his descriptions in a metaphorical sense; focusing on the discovery of oneself and philosophical growth. My work focuses on bold and vivid abstract imagery drawn not only from his work but also the original mythological stories and other cultural references have been used to convey meaning. Detailed documentation of each reference has been given with each painting
